Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, Everything We Know So Far
Christopher Nolan is back with another epic flick, and this time he’s diving into some serious legendary storytelling with The Odyssey. After scoring major wins at *checks notes* every award show in 2024 for Oppenheimer, the director is once again going for broke. This time he's teaming up Tom Holland and Zendaya for what we in the industry call "a blockbuster."
(Extremely British Voice) What’s All This Then?
So what’s the scoop? This mythic adventure is based on Homer’s classic tale of Odysseus, played by Matt Damon. He’s off on a wild journey home after the Trojan War, and if you know anything about Greek mythology, expect a whole bunch of gods, sirens, and crazy creatures along the way. And in spite of rumours that Nolan was going to make a vampire movie (or possibly something about a helicopter), as far as we know there will be zero blood suckers in this one.
Who?
The cast? It’s stacked. You’ll see familiar faces from Nolan’s earlier films, like Anne Hathaway and Robert Pattinson, alongside some newcomers like Charlize Theron and Lupita Nyong’o. Rumor has it Holland will play Odysseus’s son, Telemachus, while Hathaway is lined up to be his wife, Penelope. Will Pattinson play Zeus? Possibly a demi-god with a New YAWK accent? We can only hope.
It’s On Imax, Right?
You know it! Nolan's going all out with brand new IMAX tech, which means the visuals are going to be epic. And he’s picked some gorgeous locations, like the stunning Fasignana island in Sicily.
When Can We Go To Greece?
For now we're looking at a July 17, 2026, release date, so you have plenty of time to dive into Greek mythology in case you want to see how the movie lines up wiht the original text. There's really no way to know with this Nolan guy.
