What If We Kissed In Front Of Pitbull Stadium?
Mr. Worldwide indeed! According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, the man, the myth, the legend, Pitbull has purchased the naming rights for Florida International University’s football stadium - directly in the heart of Miami.
FIU board documents state that Pitbull will pay $1.2 million per year to the school over the next five years. The stadium was previously known as Riccardo Silva Stadium. Named for Silva, the businessman and investor who owns the Italian soccer club AC Milan and the minor league US club, Miami FC.
But the stadium isn’t just being renamed after Pitbull, the guy is doing THE MOST. Pitbull is now the “Official entrepreneur of FIU athletics.” Which is a hilarious title. He’s also putting together an FIU anthem (whatever that is), he has to show up at one FIU fundraiser per year, and he has to make 12 yearly social media posts promoting FIU.
This is pretty much a done deals FIU is hosting a press conference with Pitbull today (like literally right now). Hopefully this opens the door to more musicians purchasing naming rights to stadiums.
