Ten Upcoming Horror Movies We Can’t Wait To See
Here at Popnoise we love movies, but we especially enjoy horror movies big and small. From big budget flicks that are sure to make noise at the box office to indie films that we’ll inevitably have to track down across various streaming sites. Let’s dig in!

Presence - January 24, 2025
Directed by speed-god Steven Soderbergh, Presence is his first straight up horror movie and we can’t wait to see what this guy is cooking up. Starring Lucy Liu and Julia Fox (she’s so everywhere), the film looks to be a haunted house story from the point of view of the ghost. SpoOoOoOoOOoky.
Heart Eyes - February 7, 2025
It’s been a while since we’ve had a real deal slasher in theaters, and Heart Eyes looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun. Following a pair of co-workers who are mistaken for a couple on Valentines Day by a killer with a bone to pick with young lovers, there’s no way that this won’t rock. Directed by Josh Ruben (Werewolves Within and Scare Me), it’s going to be interesting to see if he can land the plane for once
The Monkey - February 21, 2025
Based on the short story by Stephen King, this adaptation from Osgood Perkins stars Theo James as a pair of twins who are forced to deal with a deluge of death and destruction caused by a creepy little toy monkey. Judging from Perkins’ previous work (Longlegs, I am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House), he’s going to freak this short story into Freakville.
Opus - March 14, 2025
Ayo Edebiri (yeah dude! get it! WOOOO!) stars in this A24 film as a young writer profiling a pop star who disappeared 30 years prior. Once in the pop star’s compound she finds herself surrounded by sycophants and hangers ons. It’s entirely possible that this is a dud, this is an A24 movie with a lazy logline after all, but we love Edebiri and we’ll pay to see her read the phone book.
The Woman in the Yard - March 28, 2025
Now this is a premise that we can show up for - a mysterious woman in black shows up on a family’s front lawn and delivers a frightening message. Starring Danielle Deadwyler from I Saw The TV Glow, we're excited to see what she does next. That being said, it’s directed by the guy who made Jungle Cruise and Black Adam so who knows how this thing is going to play.
28 Years Later - June 20, 2025
Picking up 28 years (duh) after the rage virus infected the British Isles, the third film in the series will catch us up like some kind of gory version of the Up Series. Directed by Danny Boyle and written by Alex Garland, pretty much everything else is unclear about the movie. The original film is an absolute blast, and it’s an incredible visual treat - hopefully the third film in the trilogy holds up.
The Bride! - September 26, 2025
Written and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, The Bride! is inspired by James Whale’s The Bride of Frankenstein and that’s really all we know about it. That and it has a stacked cast: Christian Bale, Penélope Cruz, Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Benning, and Jake Gyllenhaal are all due to appear in one way or another in this mysterious monster movie.
Hell House LLC: Lineage - October, 2025
Mileage varies with the Hell House LLC flicks, but we’ll be darned if we can’t stop watching them. The first movie is legit scary, but the sequels fall into the trap of deep lore - the kind that zaps the fear out of a horror movie. However, last year’s prequel, Hell House LLC: Origins, was fun so we have medium hopes.
The Shrouds - 2025
Daddy Cronenberg is back with a twisted little number about a technology that allows families to keep tabs on their deceased loved ones while they lie in their graves. Yikes!
Bugonia - November 7, 2025
We would love it if Yorgos Lanthimos took a year off, but you’ve gotta work while you got the juice. This remake of Jang Joon-hwan’s Save The Green Planet stars Jesse Plemons (duh) as a conspiracy theory obsessed beekeeper who kidnaps the CEO of a giant company because he thinks she’s an alien bent on world domination. Emma Stone will also appear because of course she will.
