This Just In: The Smiths Still Not Reuniting

In a statement posted to Morrissey Central (the place for all of your Moz news), Morrissey claims that AEG Entertainment Group made a “lucrative offer to both Morrissey and Marr to tour worldwide as 'The Smiths' throughout 2025.” The singer states that he said yes to the offer while guitarist Johnny Marr “ignored the offer.”

Because Morrissey can’t help himself (and as one of the last standing rock n roll provocateurs) he finishes his post with the immortal line:

Morrissey undertakes a largely sold out tour of the USA in November.

Marr continues to tour as a special guest to New Order.

It’s a drag that we’re not getting a Smiths reunion anytime soon, but in an era where it feels like every band is getting back together to cash in on our nostalgia and get their bag, you have to respect the fact that there’s no amount of money that can bring these two people who clearly hate each other back together.
