Neil Young Drops Out Of Glastonbury, Citing “Corporate” Influence
Once again proving that he’s the coolest O.G. rocker alive, Neil Young put the Glastonbury festival on blast for being “under corporate control.”
Writing on his website (which is styled to look like a newspaper - it rocks), Young stated that he and his band the Chrome Hearts "were looking forward to playing Glastonbury, one of my all time favorite outdoor gigs,” but he’s dropping out due to the festival’s partnership with BBC. Young continues:
We were told that BBC was now a partner in Glastonbury and wanted us to do a lot of things in a way we were not interested in. It seems Glastonbury is now under corporate control and is not the way I remember it being.
The BBC has declined to comment on Young's website post.
UPDATE: Okay folks, it turns out that Neil Young WILL be playing Glastonbury after all. He says that this is all due to an “error” in information:
Due to an error in the information received, I had decided to not play the Glastonbury festival, which I always have loved. Happily, the festival is now back on our itinerary and we look forward to playing! Hope to see you there!
Cool!
